Tuxedos: How to Pick the Best Colors

Tuxedos: How to Pick the Best Colors

When planning your wedding, it’s easy to focus on finding your dress and the perfect dresses for
your bridesmaids that you overlook the groomsmen. While finding the right tuxedos is not as
tough of a choice as finding the best dresses, it’s still an incredibly important choice: the tuxedos
need to suit the colors of your wedding, the season, and your groom’s personal preferences.

Consult with the Groom

Before choosing, talk with the groom—while some grooms don’t mind what they wear and are
happy to let you choose, some men may want to help decide or already have their own ideas for
what to wear. Talk with the groom to see if he wants to come along to choose tuxedos!

Consider the Season

Depending on the season your wedding in could change what colors you may be interested in.
For example, in winter you may want to consider cooler tones (light grey, white, navy), while in
summer you may opt for warmer tones (khaki, linen). No matter what time of year, black always
looks great!

Coordinate with the Bridesmaids

One of the biggest decisions when thinking about color is to consider what the bridesmaids’
dresses will look like. You want to choose a color for the groomsmen that looks good with the
bridesmaids, but doesn’t completely match. Think about navy tuxes with blush dresses, khaki
tuxes with green dresses, or if you’re worried about matching well, black tuxes go well with
anything!
